Oakland, CA – Just Beginnings Collaborative (JBC) is proud to announce the newest addition to our staff, Claudia Leung. Claudia is JBC’s new grants manager, and will be responsible for co-creating a comprehensive grantmaking program with JBC senior staff, stewarding partner organizations through the process from applicant to grant recipient, and helping us build a movement that is responsive, creative, and survivor-centered.
Claudia brings with her a diverse background in social justice work, nonprofit administration, grant making, communications, government, and arts and culture experience. Throughout her life, she has focused on centering marginalized communities to effect cultural and social change that reflects their experiences and her commitment to justice. For the past five years, she has been a member of Asians 4 Black Lives, and began working with the Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective in 2018. Previously, she served as the Communications Manager with California Humanities, a nonprofit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Claudia also served on the Community Investments team at the San Francisco Arts Commission, where she refined grantmaking for the nationally recognized Cultural Equity program, led monthly discussions on racial equity, and developed outreach efforts to potential grantees from BIPOC and queer and trans communities, as well as individuals with disabilities.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Claudia as she embarks on this journey with all of us. We encourage you, as part of our JBC community, to introduce yourself to our newest team member.
